  • PDF

This caricature by Saudi artist Abdelkareem Elhlayel reflects the attempts of Saudi  mainstream media to cover the fact that women in Saudi Arabian media are almost invisible. Many do not participate for social reasons, since women are not supposed to say their names, show their faces, and can be criticised for almost anything besides, they have to have the permission of their male guardians before making most decisions.

The driving person is talking to his fried Abu Ahmad:

‘You know what? You Abu Ahmad are contradicting yourself...you remind me of the talk show ‘Girls Talk’ where all the participants are males’. He says

The caricature was published by Alriyadh newspaper.
